At GFS Electrical Services Ltd, every job I carry out in your home is tested, safe, and properly certified. Certificates are your guarantee that the work is compliant with the latest wiring regulations, legally recognised, and safe for you and your family.
Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate
For smaller jobs, such as adding a socket or replacing a light, you’ll receive a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. This confirms the circuit I’ve worked on has been fully tested and meets the current wiring regulations.
1) Electrical Installation Certificate
For larger jobs, such as installing a new circuit or upgrading your fuse box, you’ll receive an Electrical Installation Certificate. This provides full evidence that the installation has been tested and complies with BS 7671, the UK wiring regulations.
Back to top2) Part P of the Building Regulations
Some electrical work must also be notified under Part P of the Building Regulations. As an NICEIC-registered electrician, I handle this process for you. You’ll receive a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate as official proof that the work has been registered with the local authority and meets the legal requirements.
Back to top3) Council Charges vs. Included Certification
In September 2025, Leeds City Council confirmed their charges are:
- £350 to register electrical work
- £650 if they also have to test and register the work themselves
Because I’m registered with NICEIC, full testing, certification, and compliance with Building Regulations are already included within my quotes.
Back to top4) Keeping Your Certificates Safe
All certificates are emailed directly to you after the work is completed. I recommend saving them in a safe file — not only for your own reference and for any future electrician who may work on your property, but also because they are often required for:
- Home insurance purposes
- Selling or renting your property
- Proving compliance with Building Regulations
5) Why Certification Matters
These council figures highlight how important testing, inspection, and commissioning are for the safety of your home. Certificates are not just documents — they protect your home, your family, and your legal compliance, while also providing peace of mind for years to come.
